What is BCPHIN?

The Black Canadian Perinatal Health Information Network (BCPHIN) is a central hub that brings perinatal and reproductive health information, research, tools, and organizations relevant to Black communities into one organized, easy to navigate space. It is designed for researchers, clinicians, and advocates working to advance Black maternal and reproductive health.

Who is BCPHIN for?

BCPHIN is for academics, researchers, clinicians, healthcare professionals, students, and community advocates who need reliable perinatal and reproductive health information focused on Black populations in Canada, and, where noted, across North America.

Who runs BCPHIN?

BCPHIN is an initiative of Mino Care, a perinatal and reproductive health organization dedicated to culturally safe care for Black families. Funding for the website is provided by Health Canada.

Is BCPHIN free to use?

Access is currently free and there is no paid access at this time. A membership plan is planned for the future.

How do I join or sign up?

You can sign up on the website to join the network. Members receive access to the site and all of its resources.

What kind of information will I find here?

Resources are organized into Tools, Media articles and blogs, and Organizations, alongside research, data, and events relevant to Black perinatal and reproductive health.

Can I submit my own research, event, or resource?

Yes. There is an option to submit research or information you would like to share on the website, and you can email it to info@minocare.ca.

How is the information reviewed for accuracy?

The Mino Care team reviews all information and assesses its accuracy before posting it. All information must be credible and evidence based.

Does the information apply outside Canada?

The website focuses on Canada primarily but also includes data from the United States and the United Kingdom. Guidelines and regulations differ between countries, so always check the jurisdiction label on a given resource.

How current is the information?

The information is updated monthly.

How is my information handled when I sign up?
